A well-managed organization culture that is closely linked to business strategies can mean the difference between the success and failure of an organization. The same is true of a culture that is properly managed through the redesign or change process. There are different elements of corporate culture that need to be managed to increase organizational effectiveness. The physical aspects of employee behavior such as language and dress along with the organizations physical space can impact a change process. The norms or guiding principles of how employees should behave in particular situations is another important element that needs to be managed. Values tell employees what is important to the organization and what deserves their attention. Finally, the taken-for-granted assumptions about how problems will be solved are the final element of organizational culture that needs to be managed to increase the likelihood of successful organizational redesign. Managing these elements is not easy on a day-to-day basis and even more difficult during a change process. It is also important to remember that a certain set of values and assumptions that once was a strength, can also become a weakness when an organization is trying to implement a new strategy.
